Lawrence Harvey Zeiger, or what everyone knows as Larry King, was born on November 19, 1933. He is a man of many talents.

Over his career, Larry hosted over 50,000 interviews and had more than ten awards to go along with it, including 2 Peabodys and 10 Cable ACE Awards.

The Rise to Fame of Larry King

Larry King is a name that is recognized all over the world. He has been the top name in the journalism world.

Over the years, he has emerged as one of the most respected names in the industry. He has earned that respect because of his work on Larry King, a show that he hosted on CNN for 25 years.

Larry has interviewed world leaders, business moguls, celebrities, and some of the most influential people in the world. He was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 2013.

Larry King hosted the popular nightly interview television program Larry King Live which aired on CNN from 1985 to 2010. The show was then picked up by Hulu, Ora TV, and RT America, which aired until 2020.

In 2012 King launched his online talk show Larry King Now, which also aired on these networks with two new episodes being released every day.

In 2013 he presented Politicking with Larry King, a weekly political discussion show which also aired on Hulu, Ora TV, and RT America until 2020.

Larry King’s Marriage

Larry was married eight times in his lifetime to seven different brides. But not at the same time, don't worry!

He married Freda Miller in 1952, at the height of his fame. But their parents put an end to it when they found out that the still teens had eloped.

He later briefly married Annette Kaye, who gave him one son in 1961, Larry Jr., and he didn't meet his son until years later, when his son was 30.

Larry married his third wife, Alene Akins, a Playboy Bunny, with whom he adopted a son in 1962. He divorced her the following year and married his fourth wife, Mary Francis "Mickey" Sutphin but had a divorce.

He remarried Alene and had a second child named Chaia. For the second time, the couple had divorced in 1972.

Larry married again in 1976 to his fifth wife, Sharon Lepore, a mathematics teacher, and production assistant. But, Larry and Sharon divorced in 1983.

Larry King met Julie Alexander, who is a businesswoman, in 1989. On the couple's first date, Larry proposed to Julie on August 1, 1989, and she accepted. The couple got married at a small ceremony in Washington, D.C., on October 7, 1989. But, the two separated in 1990 and divorced in 1992.

In 1995, Larry became engaged to Deanna Lund. However, they remained unmarried.

Larry's seventh wife is a singer, actress, and TV host, Shawn Southwick. They got married in 1997. They had their wedding in a hospital room before Larry went into heart surgery.

Larry and Shawn had two children named Chance and Cannon. Larry is also a stepfather to Danny Southwick.

Larry King joked that Shawn was his only wife that lasted in two digits. However, Larry and Shawn filed for divorce in 2010. The two reconciled and remained married for 9 years until another divorce was filed in 2019.

Larry and Shawn were still through their divorce proceedings at Larry's death in 2021.

Larry King’s Death

Larry King was hospitalized with Covid-19 in January 2021. As per Shawn Southwick-King, he recovered from the virus, but Larry died due to sepsis.

Larry King died at the age of 87 on January 23, 2021.
