Who is Robert Henry Katz?

Robert Henry Katz and Barbara Walters

Robert Henry Katz, better known as the husband of Barbara Walters, was thrust into the public eye due to his marriage to the celebrity.

However, many people don't realize that Katz and Barbara Walters were only married for a little over a year.

Robert Henry Katz's story before his marriage, including his dating life with Barbara, is conspicuously absent from the internet.

Robert Henry Katz and Barbara Walters married on June 20, 1955, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Unfortunately, their marriage didn't last long as they divorced just 11 months later, in 1957. Even their friends and family may not have seen it coming.

Robert Henry Katz and Barbara Walters never had any children together, though Barbara Walters did opt to adopt her daughter Jacqueline Dena Guber while she was married to Lee Guber.

Jacqueline Guber was adopted in 1968, making her 54 years old today.

Robert Henry Katz's sudden disappearance from the public eye post-separation from his wife made it difficult for us to track him, especially because it happened so long ago.

This is why we don't have much information about his biography or net worth. We also don't know much about his married life afterward.

Get to Know Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters was born on September 25, 1929, in Boston, Massachusetts, to booking agent Louis "Lou" Walters and mother Dena 'Seletsky' Walters.

Her parents were the descendants of Jewish refugees from the Roman Empire.

She began her career as a journalist on The Today Show in 1961 when women were just starting to break into the field.

Barbara Walters began her career as the "Today Girl" and quickly gained popularity among viewers.

She then went on to work for ABC Evening News and 20/20. During her time with these news programs, everyone began to take note of her skills and talents when it came to conducting interviews.

From Prime Ministers and Presidents to Kings and Dictators, Walters interviewed some of the biggest names in the world, including Fidel Castro and Vladimir Putin. She is among the pioneers of what is now known as "personality journalism" and "scoop interviews."

Thanks to her extensive career, Barbara Walters has an estimated net worth of $150 million.

About Barbara Walters' Marriage

Barbara had a total of three husbands, with Robert being the first and many other lovers throughout the years. Her second husband, Lee Guber, was a theater owner and producer of many plays. The two divorced in 1976.

After her second divorce, Barbara Walters married her third husband, Merv Alderson, in 1981. However, they divorced in 1984. This wouldn't be the last time they saw each other, though, as they eventually reconciled and remarried in 1986.

But their relationship didn't last, and they divorced again six years later, in 1992. Alderson was a co-founder, CEO, and producer at the Lorimar Television company but died in 2015.

Barbara Walters has had a lot of love in her life, even beyond her three marriages.

In her college days, she dated Roy Cohn, a lawyer, who even proposed to her before she married her second husband, Lee Guber.

Walters was grateful to Cohn for helping with her adoption and her father's legal troubles in the past, but she didn't think of him romantically.

Her dating list includes some high-profile names, such as Alan Greenspan, a US Federal Reserve Chairman in the 1970s, and John Warner, a US Senator in the 1990s.

In her autobiography, Audition, she claims to have had an affair with US senator Edward Brooke in the 70s, who was married at the time.

Woody Allen, Tom Brokaw, and Robert Neil Butler are some other names she has been linked to or rumored to be dating.
