My Experience with Chinese Portable Monitors
During peak covid, we had a lot of requests for Work from Home products and one of the most commonly requested products were portable monitors. Up until then, portable monitors were used a lot of retail store displays, ad displays and extra displays in office spaces. Now it became a work from home requirement.
So I worked with a large corporation that needed portable monitors and I've purchased, tested a few and here's been my experience.
Some Chinese displays are SUPER bad quality. They look great and all that, but get burnt out within months. Which means the display burns out. So don't ever fall for the cheap option and don't buy a non-branded option too.
Also if you are looking for a presentation display, I'd rather suggest going for a television that can cast, play, you can watch content with a TV and so on. If you need to project, can instead go for a Chinese projector.
If you are a developer, then you need a portable monitor. The Zeus Portable monitor has been great. It's good for gaming and for work.
I'm not a developer, so I won't be able to give good feedback from that department, but as a gamer, it was perfect. Xiaomi, Lenovo and other big brands, sell these monitors at 2X the price of a brand like Zeus.

Which is the Best China Portable Monitor?
Based on reviews and tests we conducted, the best portable Chinese monitor to buy this year is the Lepow Gamut 15.6" portable monitor. It has a 15.6-inch full HD HDR screen and comes with type-C, mini HDMI and a 3.5mm jack which you can use to connect to a laptop, smartphone, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox or Nintendo. Though it's a great display to own, not everyone would be inclined to pay out over $100 for this.
For those on a budget, there are other great Chinese portable displays like the Eyoyo or the UPerfect that you can buy.

Are Chinese Monitors Good?
Chinese monitors like Lepow are super cheap and and are really high quality. How do they manage to do this? Some of these manufacturers make monitors for top electronic brands and have the tech and scale to make monitors at mass quantities for cheap.
Is it safe to buy China portable monitors?
Yes, you can buy portable monitors made in China without worrying too much about the product mainly because sites like AliExpress tend to offer only high quality electronics including displays and portable monitors. What you can do is review the seller first by checking their ratings, inventory, buyer reviews and even how long they have been selling portable monitors.
Things to Consider when Buying a Portable Monitor from China?
There are a few important features to take into consideration when buying a Chinese portable monitor. Following these points will ensure that you get the best without shelling out a lot.
- Display - One of the most important factors to take into consideration when buying a portable monitor is the resolution of the display. When choosing one regardless of whether it's for gaming or business purposes, it's best to buy a Chinese portable monitor that offers a minimum of 1080p or a Full HD display. Anything higher will be brilliant, but this is the base requirement if you want to have a good visual experience.
- Contrast Ratio - Another important feature to keep in mind when choosing a portable monitor from China is the contrast ratio offered and whether it's versatile enough to provide clear and crisp video in both light and dark environments. Also, choose one that offers adjustable contrast and brightness settings so you can make manual changes to suit your preference.
- Built-in Speakers - If you're looking to pair your portable China monitor with say, a DVD or BluRay player then you will need to have built-in speakers to cut out extra wires and other attachments. You can always resort to switching over to Bluetooth audio, but it's always good to buy a portable monitor that comes with built-in speakers.
- Compatibility - When buying a Chinese portable monitor, it's important that you choose one that is compatible with your primary device. Most portable monitors today are versatile and can be paired with a wide number of devices with the help of HDMI or mini HDMI cables.
- Power Source - Most portable monitors come with either a USB power source or a wired source that goes directly into your wall socket. Choosing the portable monitor with a USB power source provides you with many possibilities and turns the display into something that you can carry around everywhere you go. You can always resort to powering the display via your primary source or by a power bank with the help of the USB cable.
How I tested the best Chinese monitors?
I put well over 50 different Chinese portable monitors through a series of tests to determine which ones are the best. I checked each display to see if they are versatile and can be paired or connected to multiple devices.
I also played a couple of different movie styles including b/w to see if the contrast ratio was on point and if the display was as clear in the daytime as it is during the night or in a dark room.
These portable Chinese displays were also tested to see if they are worth the asking price and only the top 12 mentioned on this list offer features that make them worth the money.
Based on my findings, I rated each product on a scale of 1-5. Check them out!
