Xiaomi Mi 12
The Mi 12 is Xiaomi's flagship of 2022 and for good reason. The device has been designed beautifully and the compact size makes it the ideal buy.
I found the UI to be fluid and quite responsive compared to the Xiaomi 10, and the fact that it has a locked processor means that the smartphone will not overheat and this protects the phone from damage to its circuitry.
After using the Mi 12 for a little over 3 months, I loved everything about the phone and the most notable features HAS to be the 50MP wide angle camera and ultra fast 120Hz display, all for under $700 on Amazon.
Quite like other Xiaomi models, the Mi 12 does not support Verizon or AT&T, but it’s unlocked and can support SIMs from other service providers within the States.
The only drawbacks I got from the Xiaomi 12 is that it’s not waterproof and the battery life is not that special. Apart from that, the phone’s performance is off the hook and it is a worthy component to other flagship smartphones this year because it offers fast wired and wireless charging.
Key Specifications
- HD+ 6.28" AMOLED DotDisplay
- Wireless Wi-Fi 6 & Bluetooth 5.1
- 50MP wide angle triple rear camera
- 32MP front facing camera
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 14nm power-efficient processor
- 8GB RAM
- 256GB ROM
- Stock MIUI 13 (Based on Android 12)
Xiaomi Poco X4 Pro
The Poco X4 is a huge upgrade from the Poco F2 Pro we’ve included in this list.
In my opinion, the Poco X4 Pro is one of the most affordable, super fast smartphones in the market from Xiaomi’s sub-brand and the reason I love it so much is because it’s equipped with an amazingly vivid 6.67-inch AMOLED display that supports 120Hz refresh rate.
I found the display to be fluid and the pin-hole selfie camera is quite small so the display looks extra large.
Though I felt that the display was a huge turn on, the lack of battery backup meant that I had to charge the device more frequently than some of the others in the same segment.
However, coupled with a 67W fast charger, this phone can go from 0-100% in under 45 minutes, so I guess Xiaomi kind of balanced it out there.
If you want a powerful camera on a smartphone, then definitely go for the Poco X4 Pro. Its 108MP camera delivers crisp images with perfect detail and color during the day, but lacks OIS so night shots are not as great and could use some improvement.
In terms of performance, the processor is mid-range and not the latest Snapdragon 8, but it’s a Kryo 660 and that’s more than enough to make multitasking a piece of cake.
Considering the under $300 price tag, the Poco X4 Pro definitely is worth the money and I couldn’t have expected more considering Xiaomi has given it all they could at a very affordable price.
