What Modes of Payment Does Temu Accept
List of Available Payment Methods Accepted by Temu
As of writing this Temu has a total of 8 modes of payment that are available to both website and mobile users. These modes of payment are accessible by anyone, but the pay later services are only available to those who have accounts on those respective platforms.
Here’s a rundown of the payment modes available on Temu.
Major credit/debit cards
Temu accepts all major credit cards and debit cards so if you have a Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, JCB, Diners Club or a Maestro then you can go ahead and place your order with any one of them.
Temu Credit
Temu Credit is a built-in digital wallet that members can use instead of a credit card or debit card. You can place any order using your Temu credit and all you have to do is top up our Temu account with the desired funds and you’re good to go.
Temu credit doesn't have any expiry date so even if the amount in your Temu credit was added by a coupon or refund from an earlier purchase then that amount will remain in your account until the next time you make a purchase.
Apple Pay
Another mode of payment that’s available is Apple Pay. But this method is open to those who have used their Apple account to sign up to Temu and have Apple Pay enabled.
You can choose the Apple Pay option and have the funds directly taken from your account or if you have an Apple Pay card then you can enter your card details in the credit/debit card section and pay for your order.
Google Pay
Google Pay is available to all users who sign into Temu with a Google Account. This mode of payment can give you the option to pay from any bank account of your choice as long as that particular account is linked to your Google Pay profile.
PayPal
Similar to Google Pay, Paypal works by acting as a third-party payment processor where you can either choose to pay via Paypal using your bank account or have the amount debited directly from your Paypal wallet instead.
Temu also has offers running for Paypal users so you can take advantage of this while processing your order.
Cash App Pay
Cash App works as a P2P service that allows you to quickly send funds to Temu. It’s similar to Paypal and it acts as a digital account that ties in directly with your bank.
Again, you can either choose to pay from your bank account through Cash App or you can have money transferred from your Cash App wallet instead.
Either way your money is safe and refunds get processed back to the original mode of payment.
Pay in Split Payments with Affirm
With Affirm, you can transform your shopping experience by splitting significant expenses into interest-free installments. To unlock this feature, your cart needs to reach a minimum of $100 after applying any discounts.
When your cart meets this threshold, Affirm becomes available at checkout, enabling you to break down your total cost into comfortable monthly payments.
What sets this payment method apart is the absence of hidden fees, providing transparency and ensuring that you can enjoy your shopping spree without any financial surprises.
Temu's integration with Affirm acts like a financial wizard, allowing users to make the most of their purchases while maintaining control over their budget.
Buy now, pay later services (Afterpay & Klarna)
The final options available are for those who place large orders and want to convert the transaction into easy monthly payments. Klarna and Afterpay offer up to 4 interest-free installments with each installment being ¼ of the total cost of the order.
Afterpay and Klarna are only available to U.S citizens and both platforms automatically debit the installments from your bank account. However, due to the nature of the transactions, canceling or modifying an order will result in a small delay with processing refunds and the only drawback is that it can not be used to pay for gift cards on Temu.
How Do You Add a Credit/Debit Card to your Temu Account?
There are primarily two ways to add a credit/debit card to your Temu account. One is by opening your cart and processing the order and the second is through your Temu account and navigating to the Your Payment Methods section.
Here’s how you can add your credit/debit card on Temu.
Method 1 -- Save your Credit /Debit Card on Temu while Placing an Order
The easiest way to save your card details while placing a new order is to click on the “Remember this Card for Future Use” checkbox while confirming your order. While saving your card information and checking the box, you will have an option to read what Temu will do with your card information. Simply tap on the little question mark next to view the details.
Here’s what Temu says;
“Your card information will be stored on Card Scheme, an authorized institution in an encrypted version for the order. The encrypted details are stored only for your convenience, to make shopping with us the next time easier, and to save you the time of inputting your card information.”
Method 2 -- Add a New Card to your Temu Account
The second method involves adding a card manually to your Temu account and using that to pay for all your orders in the future. To do this you will need to sign into your Temu account and then navigate to the profile section of your account.
From here you must tap on Your Payment Methods on the left hand row of options followed by the Add a Credit or Debit card. Once you tap on this option you will receive a pop-up requesting you to enter your card information.
Key in your card number, CVV and expiration date as well as the registered billing address and then tap on the add card button.
Once you’ve saved your card, you will be able to automatically pay for your orders using your saved card without having to re-enter the card number or billing address. The only thing you will have to enter upon checking out is the CVV and this is done for security measures.

Troubleshooting Payment Related Issues on Temu
While the app and website are secure and will ensure that your payment details are stored safely, there can be some instances where your payment may fail and might not go through. Here’s a bunch of payment related issues you can possibly face on Temu and how to fix them.
What to do if you were charged twice while checking out?
If you were charged twice while checking out then it’s most likely a technical issue or you may have tapped the checkout button twice. Sometimes the first transaction can be a payment authorization to your bank and a second transaction might appear which will be the confirmation.
Check your bank account to see if you have one pending transaction and one confirmed transaction. If you have two confirmed transactions for the same order then you will need to wait for 24-48 hours for the duplicate transaction to revert back into your account.
This is an automatic process as Temu confirms charges only once per order. However if you have not received a credit back into your account then contact Temu on hlp@temu.com or drop them a message via the live chat system on the mobile app/website.
Why has my Temu payment declined?
If you’ve received a message that your payment has been declined and the order can not be processed then it’s one of two likely reasons. Either you’ve entered the wrong card number, expiry date or CVV, or your issuing bank has declined the transaction.
You will be required to call your bank and let them know that it’s you who is placing the order and that the transaction is valid. They will open the gateway for your money to go through and you can try placing your order once again.
However, if the issue is just a wrong card number, expiry date or CVV then simply re-entering the right information will resolve the issue and your order will go through.
I am unable to complete my Paypal payment on Temu, what to do?
If you’re unable to complete a payment on Temu with Paypal then it’s possible that Paypal has restricted the transaction from going through due to the robust security measures they have in place.
The only fix for this is to get in touch with Paypal and authorize them to release the funds or you can opt for an alternative payment method like a credit/debit card, Temu credit or Google Pay.
How long does it take for a refund to get processed back into my account?
Refunds are generally processed back to the original mode of payment within 7 days of the complaint being raised. It can take up to 14 business days for the refund to reflect in the account and sometimes it can take up to 30 days depending on your banking institution.
You can always choose to receive Temu credit and that takes roughly 2-3 minutes to be processed. However, you will not be able to withdraw or encash your Temu credit so you will HAVE to place an order using your credit.
The refund timeline is as follows:
- Credit card - up to 18 days
- Temu credit - under 3 minutes
- Debit card - up to 18 days
- Paypal - up to 7 days
- Afterpay - up to 7 days
- Klarna - up to 7 days
- Google Pay - up to 30 days
- Apple Pay - up to 30 days
- Affirm - up to 7 days
